After completing a 23-year career with Walt Disney Productions, beginning in the mailroom and working through various film production levels to become an executive producer, I decided it was time for a change.
I produced a film shot on the Monterey Peninsula in 1976, "HERBIE GOES TO MONTE CARLO", one of the Love Bug movies. We filmed a sequence at nearby Laguna Seca Raceway, using the track to double on film for a racetrack on the outskirts of Paris, France. I fell in love with Carmel on that visit and Vickie, my wife, and I spent countless vacations and quick weekends here over the next ten years. With our son, Tyler, off to Eugene, Oregon, attending the University, Vickie and I moved to Carmel in 1987…dream come true.
I had acquired my real estate sales license a few years earlier to take advantage of various income property investments we held in Southern California. I decided to put my license and my negotiating skills to work, after all, I had been dealing with Hollywood agents and complex financial situations for years, and this is what I do. The local Realtors seemed to be a very nice group and we were living where we wanted to live, a great combination.
I began with Coldwell Banker where I received my basic training, and then it was into the workplace. For my first two years I worked with Coldwell Banker in their Carmel office, building my business. I specialized in listing and marketing property, drawing from my background, I came to experience a good deal of success.
It was this local success that brought me an invitation in 1989, to join Del Monte Realty Company in their Carmel office. Here, in my second year with the firm, 1991, I was named top producing agent for both number of transactions and total dollar volume in the Carmel office. I also took the needed classes and qualified for my Broker's license in 1991. I have served with our local Board of Realtors on the Ethics and Professional Standards Committee for a number of years as well as serving on the Board of Directors at
R. E. Infolink, a private corporation operating the Multiple Listing Service for over 11,000 agents from Big Sur to the San Francisco Peninsula.
Early in 1991 I was invited to move within the company, this time to The Pebble Beach Lodge office. Agent for agent this office is the single most successful real estate office on the entire Central Coast. This is, no doubt, the reason Coldwell Banker purchased Del Monte Realty Company in February of 1997. The success has continued and we are now able to offer our listing clients the massive network of exposure brought to this association by Coldwell Banker.
The Pebble Beach Lodge office location allows exposure to an extremely qualified clientele and brings them in close contact with our listings. It is our goal to serve these clients with the highest degree of professionalism and integrity possible and our accomplishment of this goal has kept Coldwell Banker/Del Monte Realty Company at the very top of the local industry for decades. It is usual for our company to be involved in more than 70% of all million dollar-plus sales and more than 50% of all sales transactions on the entire Monterey Peninsula.
Being a Broker with a top producing real estate office of the most successful company in the nation is a very real privilege. For 1999, I was the top-producing broker in the Pebble Beach Office in number of Million Dollar-Plus home sales. Since the mid-'90' I am proud to have been regularly named to International President's Elite designation for excellence in sales positioning me amongst the top 2% of over 123,000 Coldwell Banker sales associates world-wide.
Since my association with the Pebble Beach Lodge office I have consistently been named amongst the top three agents in that office and was named the #1 Pebble Beach agent for 2010 and 2011. And now, once again in 2014 I have been fortunate enough to be named the #1 agent in the Pebble Beach office with more than $33,400,000 in sales.
